Five Months Old

Nuff said!

First Meal

Well, okay, her first meal was actually five months ago, but we're not posting those pics. This is Madelyn's first meal of solids. She actually did really well -- managed to swallow most of it down, and didn't make too much of a mess. This is rice cereal she is eating. It really doesn't taste very good (and yeah, I'm speaking from personal experience).

Roll Over, Roll Over

And here is Maddie rolling over -- she can also roll back over onto her back, but she won't perform that trick for the video.

Our Little Pumpkin

Maddie celebrated her first Halloween by dressing up as a pumpkin and helping Mommy and Daddy hand out candy to trick-or-treaters. We'll be better about posting pictures in a more timely fashion -- sorry about that, folks.

Rockets Season Opener

Maddie showed her team loyalty when she and Daddy sat down to watch the Rockets open the 2010 NBA Season against the Lakers. The first photo was before the game. The second photo was after.

Four Months! (A Little Late)

Sorry for the delay in posting -- we've been taking pictures, just not posting anything. So Maddie turned four months old on October 15, and we celebrated by going to the zoo. Oh, and then she joined a gang.

Cooing

The title says it all -- not for everyone, but we really enjoyed filming this. And we enjoy her cooing, even if it is at 4 am.

Shark Attack!!

Maddie went on her first "fun" excursion (really, if it doesn't involve milk or sleep, not too much is fun for a two-month old) to the Albuquerque Aquarium at the BioPark. Halfway through the exhibit she had a major poop, but luckily it's a small aquarium and we were able to exit quickly.

Maddie seemed to enjoy the big fish tanks where she could watch the sharks and rays swimming around. She was very well-behaved, so we didn't have to feed her to the sharks.

Anatomy of a Smile

Maddie is smiling now. And cooing. We'll try to get some video up soon. But here are photos of her smile in action.

Cat in the Cradle

I think these photos speak for themselves as to how the cats feel about the baby.

8 Weeks!!

More Visitors!

Uncle Scott and Auntie Nonie (Noelle) visited their new niece this week and spent lots of time cuddling with her. They were also a huge help to us, as they fixed tons of stuff around the house and we didn't have to cook! We're looking forward to lots more visits.

1 Month Old!!

Family Photo

We were finally able to get a picture of the three of us during Auntie Vic's visit, which meant Madelyn's mom had to forego the wet hair and pajama look she has assumed for weeks.

Auntie Vic's Trip

Auntie Vic came to see her niece for the very first time. Madelyn got lots of love from her aunt, which allowed Mom and Dad to eat a few meals together for the first time in a while.

Madelyn's Bath

So, Madelyn's cord area finally healed and she got a real bath. Of course, there are no photos of the bath, because it was just too difficult to hold a squirming baby and take photos. Sorry.

For the most part, she enjoyed her bath, until we bathed her head -- then she started screaming. The first photo is shortly after we took her out of the bath. The second is a much more satisfied and clean Madelyn.

Madelyn -- 15 days old and gassy

So Madelyn is 15 days old, and stuggling with a nasty bout of gas and/or constipation. So Marni is foregoing the consumption of wheat, dairy and chocolate for today. Which isn't as easy as it sounds. Especially since we've been eating nothing but wheat, dairy and chocolate since we got home from the hospital (pizzas and pasta are SO easy to cook and eat when there's not a lot of time).

The hope is that Madelyn will return to her normal non-gassy state, and we can reintroduce wheat, dairy and chocolate in smaller portions to our diet. Wish us luck!

Here we have some pictures of Maddie at 15 days -- one where she is attempting to nurse on her mother's nose and a nice shot of her hobbit feet (those are definitely from me!)

Pics of Madelyn at 8 days old

Here are some more Madelyn pics. A few of her with her mother and father -- hopefully when we get some visitors out here, we can get some pics of all three of us together.

No more cord!

So the umbilical cord fell off at day 7. She still has a bad scab there, but hopefully that will pop off soon. Here are the first pictures of her belly button.

Madelyn Sleeping

For the first week, Madelyn slept, ate and pooped. Near the end of the first week, she did have some awake moments and seemed to be entranced by our faces (and the cats). Darth has decided he is her Lord Protector, and is always the first to arrive when she is crying.

Going Home Outfit

As first time parents, I don't think we understood the concept of the difference between newborn sizing and 0-3 months sizing. I mean, it says 0-3 months -- that includes 0, right? Apparently not, as we learned when we dressed Madelyn for her trip home.

Madelyn is here

Sorry for the late posting -- Madelyn was born on June 15 at 5:54 pm Mountain time. She was 6lb 12oz and 19" long. We had to spend an extra day in the hospital because Marni's labor went so fast the nurse didn't have time to hook up the penicillin IV. Here are the pics from her first day in the hospital.
