Ready for the Big Time

And by big time, I mean the park...

We've been going to the park on Sunday mornings with the Larkins -- Benjamin and I shoot some hoops while Maddie and Kieran play in the sand. Maddie finally got up the nerve to climb the steps to the top of the slide, and slide down (although the first time she almost went head first).

Having a Ball

Maddie has been going to Bounce n Boogie with her friend Kieran -- most of the babies/toddlers sit in their mommies' laps during the song time, but Maddie and Kieran walk around and explore everything. Maddie likes to hug the other babies, even if some of their mothers don't like to be bothered.

She's also eating table food exclusively now -- no more jarred baby food for her! The other night she had exactly the same meal as her daddy -- spiced cod and spinach. She likes chicken, pork, steak, corn, spinach, fish, cannelini beans, broccoli, pitas, hummus, rice and turkey. We'll keep having her try new things!

And we've started playing ball with her -- she's even caught her big green ball a few times when we toss it at her.

A lot of firsts.

We are horrible people. Because we haven't updated this blog since Mother's Day. Oops. So here's a lot of firsts in the past three months.

First birthday. First trip to Chicago/ride on a plane (she was great!). First time meeting Henry and Clara. First visit from her Aunt Michelle and Uncle J. First walk. First table food (she likes steak and fish sticks a lot, corn a little less so.) First top teeth. First poop in the bathtub. First time in a backyard wading pool. I'm sure I'm forgetting something. We will be better with the updates.

Happy Mother's Day

Hello and Happy Mother's Day! We had a great day today -- Marni's first Mother's Day as a mommy. And Maddie was up bright and early to help get everything ready -- special thanks to Auntie Vic for providing the flowers.

After letting mommy sleep in a bit and after Maddie's nap, we were off to the Rio Grande Nature Conservatory for a nice walk along the Rio Grande.

Then we finished the day with a nice low-key dinner at Flying Star -- and Maddie was such a good girl all day long as usual.

Sorry, it's been a while...again

Here are some random photos from the past month. The first is of Maddie's first hike -- she had a great time, even though it was a lot colder outside than we thought.

Maddie's First Holiday

Here are some photos from Maddie's first Christmas (we're lame -- we didn't really do much on Hannukah, but on Christmas Day we ate brisket and kugel. Yes, we're lame.)

Maddie really liked opening her presents, but I think at the time she was more interested in the paper.

She is enjoying her new sitting station, and exploring the world in the form of plastic toys. And the hand puppet. Can't forget the hand puppet.

On Sunday, her friend Naomi was in town and stopped by -- Maddie was very interested in Naomi and kept trying to grab her -- probably just trying to put Naomi in her mouth. Because that's what Maddie does with anything she can grab now.

Six Months!

So Maddie is now eating solid mushed up food once a day, and she's very tall for a baby her age.

Thanksgiving with Grandma

Sorry -- we haven't posted any new pictures in a while. So Madelyn's grandmother came to visit for Thanksgiving, and we had a great time. Maddie ate sweet potatoes for the first time -- yum. And we all had a nice dinner.
